Accelerated Innovation Academe:
The Accelerated Innovation Academe is a 3-day program consisting of the essentials for individuals and business to learn to understand the day-to-day needs, history and practical applications of innovation.
This program is more than a class on innovation…it is a structured innovation experience that blends new practical information into a format that can be used by anyone, It is a blend of tutorial and practice with the latest innovation tools grounded on a clear understanding of the history of innovation.
Session size is limited to a min. of 5 participants and a max. of 15 unless a dual session is required. The Academe presentation and program location is conducted in three different California locations (San Francisco, Los Angeles and San Diego). If travel to one of these locations is not possible we can conduct the event at a location you desire and customize the material to fit your immediate and future needs.
Upon completion of the Accelerated Innovation Academe your team and people will be able to use process and systemic innovation methods to create new ideas that can range from simple adaption to radical innovation.
Academe Day 1:
The first half of Day 1 will include a presentation of the "History of Innovation” including creating innovation using patterns, themes, and trends. This is a focused study of product innovation, process innovation, transformational innovation, incremental innovation, break through innovation, radical innovation, corporate innovation, and organizational innovation will be provided. This presentation will also include an explanation of how personal subjectivity plays a role in the basics of an organization’s personal innovation history.
The 2nd half of Day 1 continues with a hands-on tutorial and use of lateral thinking tools will be included. You will be able to learn to break free of your traditional thinking patterns to tap the power of unconventional ideas and identify alternatives. This segment will illustrate the value of conceptual thinking, versus traditional thinking; by using concepts to breed new ideas and capture the energy of random input to create new connections. This segment will conclude with a role-playing team project, “How to Survive the Sinking of the Titanic”.
Academe Day 2:
Day 2 will include start with a presentation of a “Strategic Innovation” framework including seven characteristics to produce a portfolio of outcomes that can help drive growth. This segment will focus on; managing the innovation process, strategic alignment, industry foresight, consumer - customer insight, core technologies, organizational readiness and disciplined innovation implementation.
The 2nd half of Day 2 continues with a hands on tutorial and use of the PRIZM Innovation Game will be included to help expose individuals and organizations to a new style of innovation and creativity model based upon a game. The game starts with a “Quest” which is the solution to a problem or an issue. Similar to Idealized Design you start the first step of the game with the end in mind. You are then led through a series of steps constructed specifically to allow a cognitive decomposition of the problem into the Who, What and, Where to expose interconnected influences and connected functions. The game allows you to use the best thinking steps for divergence and convergence activities exploring possible solutions based upon science, biology, design, and harmonics. The natural energy flow of the game allows collaborative synergies focused on achieving the game’s “Quest”. This session will conclude with a practice sustainability themed game focused on how to create ideas for “Global Water” availability.
Academe Day 3:
The last Day 3 will include a presentation on “Innovation Leadership” including creating a new mindset. Leading innovation is about getting people to think beyond the obvious and allowing people to get in the act of solving tough problems, improving quality, building customer loyalty, and taking the company's strategy to a new level. When new innovations in products, services, and processes have been validated, it takes leadership capabilities to get people to change to support new concepts and work methods. Since resistance to change is a natural phenomenon in all organizations, it is natural for people to be comfortable with the status quo. This means effective leaders have to be courageous change agents to make innovations stick.
The final session will include a hands on tutorial and use of the NOVATE Innovation process will be included, followed by a practice team project for resolving technical and physical contradictions using the TRIZ “40 Inventive Principles” and the Alshulter Contradiction Table (Matrix) for improving the system ideality of a leisure cruise ship to prevent attack by pirates.
