The responsibility of all of \u201cUS\u201d as communities of humans on this earth, hence the term humanitarian\u2019s, is to contribute to the larger good for mankind. This can be exhibited in many ways. Some as simple as trying to move yourself and those around you forward in a positive direction. Others as elaborate creating passion, inspiration, enlightenment, and understanding. The Rocky Peak Leadership Center team is strongly involved in Volunteerisms and Mentorship as avenues to personally contribute.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Volunteerism and Volunteering brings benefits to both society at large and the individual volunteer. It makes important contributions, economically as well as socially. It contributes to a more cohesive society by building trust and reciprocity among citizens. It serves the causes of peace and development through enhancing opportunities for participation by all peoples. The notion of volunteerism has been exemplified in the U.S. since the early days of barn raisings and quilting bees, these activities involve free will, beneficence, and typically a lack of reimbursement.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Mentorship is defined as the act of a mentor as a trusted counselor or guide. A mentor is generally an influential, experienced individual with whom you establish a personal relationship and who actively helps you reach your goals. The term mentor originates from Greek mythology. As the story goes, before departing for the Trojan Wars, Homer’s Odysseus asked a trusted friend, Mentor, to watch over his son, Telemachus. Mentor was actually the goddess Athena, who had assumed the form of a human. Mentor personally took over the responsibility of educating and guiding Telemachus into adulthood. The mentorship of Telemachus lasted during the ten-year siege of Troy and throughout the next ten years, the time it took to Odysseus to journey home.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Our goal, in our own small way, is to help balance social, economic and human assets to ensure success and a more just and sustainable world. Corporate citizenship can never start too small! A portion of the profits earned by Rocky Peak and personal time and energy are used to support such organizations, like the Hugh O’Brian Youth Foundation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
